Cruel Summer!

I just love Summer! There's always something to do. Even if you're not doing anything at all it's fun to just sit around and enjoy the weather doing nothing. My only problem with summer is that it seems to go by so fast and end too quickly. For me the pace picks up with my social schedule and vacation travel so it seems like I wake up one day in May and before I know it, September is here.

That's okay with me, I just try to enjoy the magic of summer as long as possible! With that idea in mind, I'm spinning three of my favorite summer tunes just so I can remember the moment!

  1. Cruel Summer by Bananarama,
  2. Summertime by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Price (AKA - Will Smith)
  3. The Boys of Summer by Don Henley......

Enjoy!

I know exactly what you mean about summer slipping by quickly ... winter lasts an eternity!!

Fine choices for songs. I vote for Bananarama.

You may be to young to remember this one, but "Summertime Girls" by Y&T has always been a favorite of mine. It was the summer of 1985, and I was going out with the hottest woman to ever walk the planet. Everytime I saw her, I wondered just what she saw in me. As you might have already guessed, she loved this song too.

When summer was over, so were we. I never saw her again. Obviously I still think of her, and when I hear Summertime Girls my heart still skips a beat.

Happy week Intrepid!!

I'll be back in the a.m. to watch the vids... Have to convince some kids that we're not living in Mountain Time now that we're back in Ohio!

Speedy, thanks for the trip down memory lane. Yeah, I remember the song "Summertime Girls"... and I remember the 80's. I'm not that young (smile). I just pulled up the youtube video for a reminder of the scenery. Anyway, I know how a song can bring back special memories of a special time, place, or person. Is she someone you still want to get in touch with? I wonder if she thinks of the magnificent Speedy when she hears the song. By the way, Did she call you "Speedy?"

Footsteps, oh the dreaded time change. And the attitude change of coming home... Good luck getting back on schedule.

Ha haa!! I like that ....

I was not "Speedy" until about 10 years ago. It started at work.

1985 people called me LLama, or just plain old Eric.

She was very popular, and sought by every guy in the area .... so no, I don't think she would remember much of me. I always thought I would see her famous someday. Nope.

Crazy ... talking (writing) about her makes me feel young. I bet that my heart would drop, and I would fall in love with her again if chance put the two of us face to face again - then she would never call and crush me like a soda can.

I guess I don't want to go through that again.

Good grief!!!!!!! I need counseling ...
