I've missed a few Music Monday's - It's not easy being held captive. But here Goes:
I once heard a colleague describe the following two people as;
"two folks he would not like to meet in a dark alley."
And
Tracy Chapman
I wasn't as intimidated by their looks as he was but we at least agreed on one thing - They are/were (Pavarotti died of pancreatic cancer in 2007) very talented. Both artist are also noted for being very socially conscious and contributing to many charitable organizations. I genuinely appreciate that.
Tracy Chapman is slightly unconventional in her music but there is strength and knowledge in her lyrics. Pavorotti.... Well, He's just Pavorotti. I enjoy listening to this song.
I guess I'll just have to close my eyes, stroll through the alley and listen by myself......

Wow, I had no idea that these two had ever sung together; it does seem the most unlikely of combinations but it was great anyway! Pavorotti was just fantastic - generally I wish "opera" singers sang more popular tunes. It seems a pity that such amazing voices are not heard more often and it would probably attract more people to explore opera.

Definitely an unusual combination. Pavorotti is usually not my cup of tea. II, I have another Tracy CHapman duet for you to check out some time, Tracy and BB King with The Thrill is Gone. Awesome, but then, BB is my cup of tea

yeah, I love me some blues. I remember being at the U of MD back in the 80's and during Black History Month, Don Valyou and I went to the Hoff theater ob campus to watch some old blues man play, it was great to hear living history
