Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Isn't it funny how some titles of movies go on to become household phrases? Think about it.....

Diamonds are Forever, Some Like it Hot, Back to the Future, Mission Impossible, Top Gun, The Dirty Dozen, and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles are just a few examples.

Some day I'd like to complete the "Mission Impossible" go "Back to the Future" or be a "Top Gun" but for now, at least I can say I have done the "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" thing.

That's right. I did it...

Not in the way that John Candy and Steve Martin did it :

My trip wasn't that funny or stressful. And I didn't end up sleeping with a strange guy and wake up with my hand wedged between two uh -umm.... pillows. But I did the trip all the same.

Bi-Plane

I'm sure my journey was a little less glamorous!
I flew from Los Angeles to New York City and spent a few days running around the Big Apple.

Steam Engine

I then took the train from Union Station through New Jersey, and down to Philadelphia. After a few days in the historic city of "Brotherly Love" I rented a car and drove out to scenic Gettysburg.

Model T

I followed that up with a few nights in Chocolate City.....

(And I don't mean Washington D.C.)

try Hershey, PA.

All in all, it was a great trip. I'll be blogging about my adventures in the days ahead.

Thanks to all of you who stopped by to visit while I was away!

Welcome back. Looking forward to hearing the tales. Not sure if you saw this video during your time away. Similar to your post on first wedding dances.

You're back! How disappointing though that you didn't end up sleeping with a guy like Steve Martin - I'm sure that would have made hilarious reading - I mean what's a trip for if you can't make some new friends along the way:)

Those machines you were travelling on looked a bit antiquated though. Gez, I thought you were a bit more advanced in the ol US of A but I guess you looked kinda fetching anyway in your leather flying hat&googles, the Casey Jones peaked hat and the striped blazer and jodphurs:)))

Anyway, I'm relieved your back- I was worried Heather and I would find you stuck in a cave, suspended by your Speedos on a jagged rock, with the tide coming in.....

Well I'm very interested to hear your stories particularly the one about Chocolate City - Hmm sounds postively dreamy - Can you eat it? You know; like in Hansel and Gretal:))

Btw - Trains, Planes and Automobiles is a smashing film. Steve Martin is great- pity John Candy wasn't sround a little longer:(

Anyway, welcome home Big Guy:)

Hey Mike, thanks for the visit. I can't get the link for your video. But I'm sure it's good.

Hi Jane,

I'm not sure you could sleep with Steve Martin. You'd probably laugh all night. Anyway, I think you give me too much credit. You think I'd be out climbing around on jagged rocks in speedos? :) Sounds scary. Thanks for the welcome back. I look forward to catching up with you.

Dickster, You know I thought about heading south on (270) & 95. Beer and French Onion Soup sounds good. Sometime in the near future.
