Music Monday - In Your Eyes!

The list of things I learn on Music Mondays never ends. I've always liked the song "In Your Eyes" by Peter Gabriel. In fact, I've grown to appreciate it more in my later years. It's not a song I enjoy dancing to or grooving to. It's merely a song I enjoy listening and reflecting to.

I learned today that "In Your Eyes" was written about Gabriel's one-time girlfriend, actress Rosanna Arquette, after an attempted reconciliation ended in failure.

Now, some of the lyrics make more sense to me:

All my instincts, they return

and the grand facade, so soon will burn

without a noise, without my pride

I reach out from the inside

In Your Eyes

I'm posting two videos, the shorter one and the longer live version. You can definitely see and hear the African influence in the second video. Take your pick or listen to them both.

Thanks for listening.

I can't deny it; you have excellent taste in music Mr I. I definately prefer Peter Gabriel to Imagination! (Always liked that duet with kate Bush too.)

Great song and interesting background information. Proof yet again that the worst stuff of our lives can make for the best writing material...

Rozella, Thanks... Glad I could bring back some memories.

Miss Jane,

You're full of compliments today. Thank You. I'm a big Imagination fan as well. - Illusion?

Footsteps,

How true that is. But, does that mean to be a good writer you have to experience bad stuff? :) I hope not.

This is one of those songs that when it pops up on the iPod, I will listen to it multiple times. Never get tired of it, haunting melody and truly poetic lyrics

Okay, who wasn't a Peter Gabriel fan back in the day (and still today) but I know my life was never the same after that iconic moment in "Say Anything" when John Cusack serenaded Ione Skye with "In Your Eyes" bellowing from his big BOOM box!!!

Thanks for this~
