Happy New Year! A Horse's View!

Can you believe it's 2009?

I ran across this photo of Gracie the horse, with her head stuck in a tree, on the Internet today. Several captions came immediately to mind.

Like:

  1. If I ever get out of this jam, I'm gonna have a great year!
  2. Wow! That was some New Year's Eve Party!
  3. So that's where Dick Cheney has been!
  4. That's what you get for sticking your nose in other people's business!
  5. Everyone listen up! If we add 500 trillion to the bailout money, everything will work!
  6. Last chance to bid on Obama's vacant Senate seat!
  7. @#%&! Why did I let them talk me into picking Sarah Palin as a running mate?

I had a few racier thoughts but decided not to list them. (grin)

Anyway, it turns out that "Gracie the horse decided to investigate a hole in a tree, but she went a little bit too far and got stuck. Owner Jason Harschbarger of Pullman, W.Va., (See the story) snapped the photo before using a chainsaw to cut Gracie free.

Fortunately, Gracie was not seriously hurt.

I'm pretty sure that many people are sympathetic to Gracie's desperate position after the rough times in 2008. If you find yourself in Gracie's position, my hope is that someone with a "figurative chainsaw" will be coming your way soon.

What did we do before power tools?

All the Best to you in 2009!

May you have a healthy and Prosperous Year!

If you have a caption idea for the above photo, feel free to leave it in the comments section!

P.S. Edit:

Miss Jane Turley has offered these captions:

  1. "Oh dear, now I feel like an ass!"
  2. "That's the last time I listen to Winnie the Pooh..."

Great post Intrepid!

I feel we are all in that position right now, with a government that has only a screwdriver...ah well

Never would have believed it without the picture!
I've had my share of "uh oh" moments. I'm feeling fortunate that no one was standing by with a camera! Poor horse!

I vote for #7. Great post, intrepid. Happy New Year.

Houseonahill - Thanks for the comment. Yeah, seems like the government doesn't have a lot of tools left in their toolbox. Let's see what 2009 holds.

Footsteps, I've learned from your site often enough that "a picture is worth a thousand words." And I just thought of you last week as I spilled coffee (from the pot) all over the counter. Thanks for stopping by.

That's hilarious. I love it!

Though I'm really not surprised at the situation. Horses are very curious beings with oodles of personality.

Last chance to bid on Obama's vacant Senate seat!. LOL

Poor Gracie. But aside from that your captions were AWESOME! And, Jane's was great as well! Happy New Year...thank you for the chain-saw wish (haha). Yeah, that would probably be me, as well. I'll keep my eyes out for its coming, and let you know. 2009 has got to be better than 2008. I'm banking on it! Well, maybe not 'banking' literally, but...ummm...well, you understand...

Jane: Nice "add"!

Intrepid: I think you were the one who noted the need for a coffee infusion prior to actually brewing the stuff in the morning. That poor horse is probably stretching a giant coffee mug towards an overflowing Cuisinart, wishing he'd just trotted by Starbucks for a Skinny Latte "to go"...

intrepidideas said...

Thanks Summer.... Didn't know that about horses!

intrepidideas said...

Tami, much thanks. I'm going to edit in a few of Jane's comments. go back to the post for a look! :)

Footsteps,

You're right about the coffee. One day I'll have the courage to tell you my latest cuisinart (almost) blunder!

Is it "one day" yet? I have to ask... ;-D

Jane Turley said...

Oo thanks for the little edit Mr I which I only just noticed. Um..am I right in thinking you've had a cooking blunder?? Please do tell...

Here are 3 more caption ideas!

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is pressed,
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast...

Didn't YOU ever wonder how old this tree is?

Of course I have a good reason; haven't you ever heard of horse sense?

Very nice Caroline.... thanks.
